“Jesus bids us come & die –

and Jesus bids us, come & dine.”

The Bible tells us that following Christ is a journey of surrendering our self will, taking up our Cross, & following Him (Mark 8:34). This implies discomfort & adversity in the Christian life. This is His bid to ‘die.’ However, the great paradox of following Jesus is that the crucified life is also an invitation to feast and be full (“I have come to give them life, and life abundantly”- John 10:10).
Thus, the call to
die to self is an invitation to live in the fullest.

With this in mind, I believe that God has called me to live a life of forsaking comfort and willingness to surrender to His purposes for me, no matter the cost. For the past few years of my life, I have had a restlessness in my spirit. As I went to college & wrestled through the timeless question of ‘what am I here for?’- I realized that my greatest purpose in life is to give it away. My most earnest desire is to know Christ & make Him known. When I chose to follow Jesus, I signed up to live a life of abandon

Thus, my personal story + His call for believers to die to self= my going on the World Race! I graduated from college in May of 2021 and immediately moved to a brand new town where I have been serving with a local Church as the children’s ministry director for the past year. This first year of the post-grad journey has been the most challenging & yet, most fruitful season of my life. God has been teaching me that I am called to live a ‘nomad’ lifestyle, willing to follow Him no matter the cost. This is not easy, and it requires forsaking comfort. This first year of post-grad life has shown me that feelings of ‘homelessness’ and ‘lack of belonging’ are part of the human condition- all meant to point us to the fact that this world is not our true Home. The World Race will look like a bunch of young people living in tents and traveling the world to share the Gospel- a Hebrews 11 kind of mentality. Much like the original 12 disciples, our lives will be a nomad experience where we are living in temporary places to minister wherever He takes us.

My desire to embark on the World Race is to have a practical experience of following Jesus into the unknown, living on mission, and making His heart my home- not a physical dwelling. I am excited for the opportunity to take a year of my life and give it away for the cause of His Kingdom. I believe the Great Commission is a calling we must obey, not a recommendation.

I want to take Jesus seriously and share His good news with all nations. The World Race is an opportunity for me to further understand His heart and join Him in His mission to make disciples of all nations-Matthew 28:19.

Thank you for following along on the journey- I am excited to keep sharing with you how He is moving across the globe.

For His name & renown,

Kenz
